Welcome to Beth Israel Synagogue
A Conservative Congregation

USY

USY is our youth program for eight through twelfth grades. It offers our teenage members the opportunity to socialize with other Jewish teens, both members of the Synagogue and also in the region. It also offers informal Jewish education, which is important as Jewish education for teens often stops after confirmation. As in Kadima, it is also an opportunity to be involved in performing mitzvot and reinforcing what it means to be a member of the Synagogue. USY has a board which is elected by its members at the start of every year. The board, along with members, plans the activities for the year. There are two meetings a month, one for the board and one for the board and members. In addition to, or in lieu of meetings, there is also a monthly activity which might be entertainment or mitzvah oriented. In addition to chapter events there are reg ional events, international events, and summer opportunities to travel, perform mitvot, go to Israel, etc. Please see the USY website for a more in-depth description. Visit www.epausy.org. USY will also be selling snacks on Wednesday for religious school students. It is a fundraiser and an opportunity to provide a service to religious school students and their parents.

If you have any questions about USY the advisor, Lisa Wood, will happily answer them for you. You can contact her at 610-280-7232 or l.k.wood@verizon.com .
